Vance Manakas of Moorpark College has been selected as a recipient of the 2015 Classified Employee of the Year Award from the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges. Vance will be recognized at this month’s Board of Governors meeting taking place May 18-19 in Sacramento, and will receive a $500 cash award and a commemorative plaque from the Foundation for California Community Colleges.
Vance Manakas, Athletic Trainer, has been at Moorpark College since 1981. He teaches Health and Safety, First Aid and Safety, CPR, Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries, and gives seminars on AIDS Awareness, Alcohol Awareness, and Athletic Injuries.
Vance earned a Master of Science from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Science from California State University, Fullerton. He is a NATA Certified Trainer, American Heart Association Instructor, and American Red Cross Instructor in First Aid, CPR, and Sports Injuries. Vance also holds Certificates from the California Community College Athletic Trainers Association and California Athletic Trainers Association.
