Moorpark College is pleased to announce its new community choir, the Moorpark College Master Chorale, beginning this fall. Led by Director of Choral Activities, Vail Keck, the chorale will showcase a variety of styles, from classical to the 21st century. “I’m excited about the potential of this new ensemble,” said Professor Keck, “During this past year, I’ve been pleased to discover the wealth of musical talent that exists in this area. I am enthusiastic about the possibility of bringing singers together who share a passion for choral music and a dedication to their community.”
A native of northern California, Ms. Keck joined the Moorpark College faculty in the fall of 2007. Both singer and conductor, she has worked with renowned conductors such as Helmuth Rilling, Andrew Parrot, Eric Ericson, Marin Alsop and Gustav Meier. Previously, Ms. Keck directed the University Chorus, Chorale, and Opera Chorus at the University of Oklahoma while pursuing her doctorate in choral conducting, along with various choral and orchestral ensembles at University of California Santa Cruz, where she earned her master’s degree.
The MCMC will hold auditions through Aug. 26. Anyone who is enthusiastic about singing in a choir is encouraged to audition. To schedule an audition, or to learn more about auditions, contact Vail Keck at (805) 378-1400 ext. 1606 or vkeck@vcccd.edu.
The MCMC will rehearse Tuesday evenings at Moorpark College. The 2008-2009 season includes Haydn’s Te Deum, Rutter’s Gloria, and Handel’s Messiah. Concerts are planned for October, December, March and May. |
