The Art Gallery presents
EXTEMPORE, a three-person exhibition showcasing the
work of Tim Forcum and Moorpark faculty members Amy
Green and Bruce McAllister. Featuring painting, drawing and
installation, the exhibition highlights the three artists’ shared
concern with abstraction, improvisation and materiality.
EXTEMPORE will hang
through December 17, 2008.
A reception for the artists will
be held at the gallery on Thursday, November 20, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Tim Forcum’s paintings begin without a preconceived idea of an image and evolve out of the
artist’s subjective impulse. Through a dialogue of shapes, line, color, and space, Forcum arrives at
images are painterly, gestural and elegant. Amy Green’s mixed-media installations dance between
the boundaries that separate paint and architecture, orchestration and accident. Working with
materials like rubber, urethane, plastic and felt, she creates spaces where the paintings that
populate them are not static but are active, full of possibility and kinetic energy. Bruce
McAllister’s drawings and watercolors are the result of his surrender to the instinctual and the
connection between chance and artistic revelation. Delicate and expressive, his work comes out of a
search for meaning beyond the ordinary.
Tim Forcum received his MFA from California State University, Los Angeles teaches painting and design at California State
University, Northridge. Amy Green received her MFA from CalArts and teaches courses in drawing and design at Moorpark
College. McAllister received his MFA from CCA in Oakland, CA, and has been teaching painting and drawing at Moorpark
