The Ventura County Public Health Agency is recommending that this coming flu season, everyone age 50 years of age and over, as well as children who are 6 – 59 months of age, should get a flu shot.
Toward that goal, the VCPH will be partnering with Moorpark College on November 16th to administer free flu shots through a drive -thru clinic that is being set up from 8 am to noon on the lower campus.
Access the clinic from the 118 freeway, exit Collins. Drive north on Collins, pass Campus Park Drive, make first right into Maintenance and Operations driveway. Stay in your car. Staff and volunteers from the Moorpark College Nursing and Health Services Department will be on hand to direct you to the Drive-thru clinic.
According to Sharon Manakas, RN, Moorpark College Health Services, this clinic is being run as a disaster drill for a potential flu pandemic.
"Should we ever have to administer thousands of doses in a very short timespan, a drive thru clinic would be a logical delivery system," she said.
Note to editors: This year the flu shot will offer protection against A/Solomon Islands (new for this season), A/Wisconsin and B/Malaysia strains of the flu virus.
