Moorpark College has dedicated the 2009 – 2010 academic year to being a Year of Service. Through the Year of Service, the college aims to
· Recognize the service demonstrated by students and employees of the college,
· Provide opportunities for volunteer service to the local community, to the nation, and to the world, and
· Encourage an attitude of service—an approach to life that integrates understanding, caring, and taking action—that carries on in the lives of our campus community beyond this single year.
Furthermore, the Moorpark College community of employees and students has set a goal of contributing one million hours of volunteer service by 2015 (the culminating date of the United Nations Millennial Goals).
To support these aims, Moorpark College will host a Service Fair on September 9, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Non-profit and volunteer organizations will be on hand to educate our campus community about their organizations.
Free and open to the public.
