“Singles Only” is an evening of original, solo performances of singer/song writers, monologists and poets. The monologists include a guy giving tips on “The Art of Broad Catching,” performed by Daniel Rosales, and ironically, written by a “broad”—Lori Meir. “Aviophobia”, written and performed, by Jeremy Ridnor tells the suspenseful story of a young man afraid of flying, forced to take his first flight. Shannon Hewitt plays a wacky sex therapist in a short and funny monologue that she wrote. “A Bump on the Road”, written and performed by Jeremy Fay, offers the comic point of view of someone who finds his way into and out of a mental institution. Rachelle Dobin talks about her love of horses and barrel racing. Charles Burke surprises and delights with his insights about living authentically. Danielle Deffense is a “Watcher” and David Harris describes the magic of creating theatre. Singer-song writers Valerie Day and Lelani Pruitt sing songs from their own unique perspectives and tell us the experiences that inspired their lyrics. Poetry written by Moorpark College English professor Sandra Hunter, and Dean Julius Sokenu will be performed by Deanna Bell and Ed Connelly. Adam Poisol and Mary Sagala Verleur will perform poetry they have written. Stacy Triebel will perform poems written by Justine Amado. The evening is eclectic and delightful, with something for everyone. The creative impulse is alive and well at Moorpark College. Come and see for yourself!
