The Moorpark College Commencement is 5:30 p.m., May 15, on the Campus Center Quad. Of the nearly 1200 students earned their degrees during this academic year, more than 300 will take part in the ceremony.
The 2007/08 graduating class consists of 1,217 students; 709 females and 508 males. Current semester graduates number 700, with 317 having already graduated in the fall. Two hundred students graduated at the end of the summer session in 2007.
Two hundred seventy nine students from the 2007/08 graduating class have GPAs of 3.5 or higher including twenty three students with 4.00 GPAs. They are:

One hundred ten students earned more than one degree with 39 of those students earning three or more degrees. Most of the graduates earned an associate of arts or science degree in majors such as general liberal arts and science, business, accounting, biology, nursing, radio/television, criminal justice, and wildlife management. Eighty five students earned 177 certificates in occupational programs such as animal training, business information systems, child development, graphic communication, interior design and printing technology.
The Commencement speaker is Blaise Simqu, the President and Chief Executive Officer for the Sage Publications, one of the leading academic and educational publishers in the world. The Sage group of companies includes Sage Publications, Inc., in the U.S., Sage Publications, Ltd., in London, Sage Publications, Ltd Pvt, in New Delhi, India, and The Corwin Press.
Simqu has been part of the Sage organization for 15 years, from 1986 to 1990 and then again from 1996 to the present. He has held a variety of positions from Editor to Vice President to Executive Vice President. He was appointed as the C.E.O. in 2004. Blaise has also worked with the Hampton-Brown Company, Jossey-Bass Publishers, and the Kinko’s Corporation. He serves on the board of KCLU-FM, the NPR affiliate station at California Lutheran University, and he is a member of the Board of Trustees of The Buckley School in Los Angeles. He has degrees from Loyola Marymount University and the University of California, Los Angeles, and is a lifelong resident of California.
