Moorpark College Multimedia students won the 2008 Media Arts Award
Competition sponsored by the Multimedia and Entertainment Initiative of the
California Community Colleges' Economic and Workforce Development Program
(http://www.cccmei.net/mediaarts). Their Category Award was in Web Design.
The competition had over 450 entrants in 14 categories and was judged by
more than 50 faculty and 50 industry professionals. Prizes valued in excess
of $40,000 were awarded to finalists. Award ceremonies were held
simultaneously in Anaheim and Santa Clara.
The team consisted of Mike Fuller, Ah-young Lee, Kevin Nielsen and Julie
Pettit. Their site, entitled FOOD-Fundamentals of Oral Delights
(http://myfirstscrapbook.com) was a class project in Multimedia Interactive
Design (M50) taught by Ari Danesh. Each team member received Adobe Creative
Suite Web Premium software and a year's subscription to software tutorial
site lynda.com. They plan to enter national competition.
About the MC Multimedia Program (from the college catalog)
This program is an interdisciplinary program that could connect students
across a wide range of disciplines, including business, art, graphic design,
programming, performing arts, journalism, music, radio, and television. With
the development of software/hardware technology that can display motion
graphics and the realization of a graphical user interface for the Internet,
millions of people all over the globe are regular users of a medium that is
earning billions of dollars annually.
