| Rainn Wilson, best known for his Emmy-nominated role as Dwight Schrute on the television comedy, “The Office,” Kathryn Adams, Professor of English/Writing Center, Moorpark College, and author, Holiday Reinhorn, will provide a presentation on “Young Women Transforming the Future of Haiti” in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) from 7-9 p.m. Wilson, Adams, and Reinhorn will speak about their experiences as volunteers in Haiti and how drama, photography, and writing have helped empower young women and girls in Haiti. The participants in this project (“Lide/Lidè,” Creole for Ideal/Leader) live in a “camp” run by J/P Haitian Relief Organization (J/P HRO), which currently serves approximately 25,000 people displaced by the 2010 earthquake. The event will feature photos and writings of Lide/Lidè participants ages 12-18, along with the story of how this project came about and how education, especially grassroots initiated sustainable programs, can create a better future. Learn how the expressive arts – and you – can make a difference in the world. Please arrive early as seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. This Multicultural Day event is co-sponsored by the Year of Conflict Transformation Committee, is free, and open to the public.
