For the second year in a row, Moorpark College has invited approximately 4,500 freshmen (all first-time college students between the ages of 17 and 21 entering in Fall 2007) to a Freshman Orientation/Social on August 16th from 2 pm to 5 pm. The events include campus tours, opportunities to talk with faculty representing specific programs, and student services such as, Financial Aid, Counseling, the Writing Center, EOP&S, student clubs. Students will be able to purchase their books, supplies, student identification cards, and parking permits. To welcome the students, music will be provided by local radio station Q1047 and free refreshments will be provided . Faculty, staff, and administrators from across the campus serve food, provide information at the tables, and mingle among the students to answer questions.
"This is an important first-impression event for our new students in that it introduces them to their new environment in an atmosphere that encourages casual, fun connections with their peers, faculty, and staff. Our goal is to spark students' pride and launch their sense of community with the campus," said President Eva Conrad. |
