America’s Teaching Zoo Jr. Safari Summer Camp Announces a New Curriculum for One Week Only
Creepy Crawlers
Some animals seem to have a bad
reputation…..A new summer camp curriculum looks at
animals that many people consider
to be the creepy, crawly and even
scary. Get close to a scorpion, skunk, tarantula, snake and more!
Jr. Safari offers an insider's experience
with the zoo’s animal collection while participating in age appropriate science based
learning experiences. All projects are designed not only to entertain, but also to
educate the campers about the natural world of animals. The campers have
special access to the back areas, barns, classrooms, zoo kitchen,
and wildlife theater. A special lesson about the Zoo's new endangered butterfly rearing program,
the Palos Verdes blue butterfly project, is also planned.
The Creep Crawly camp week is for grades
3rd-5th and runs July 16-20.
A full week of camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. and costs $275. Half day sessions are Early Bird’s
from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Night
Owl’s 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. , each at $145.
Prospective campers can find a print the registration forms on the zoo's website at
