Moorpark College Theatre Arts Department is proud to announce its Spring 2011 production of Dale Wasserman’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. This powerful adaptation of the classic American novel will run March 24 through April 10 on the main stage of the Performing Arts Center at Moorpark College, 7075 Campus Road.
Based on the Ken Kesey novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest focuses on Randall McMurphy, a charming rogue who contrives to serve a short sentence in a mental institution rather than prison. Quickly, he takes over, leads others, stages a revolt, and arranges a midnight party. The production will be directed by Theatre Arts Department Chair, John Loprieno. “Given the amount of incredible talent we have at Moorpark College, we always have to raise the bar,” said Loprieno. “Each role presents unique challenges for the actors. This is going to be an incredibly nuanced and powerful production.”
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest runs March 24, 25, 26, 31 and April 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 at 8 p.m., with matinee performances on March 27, April 3, and April 10 at 2 p.m. Please note this production contains adult language/themes and is intended for mature audiences. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students or seniors. An additional 20 percent discount is available when purchasing tickets online. Group discounts are available.
