MOORPARK COLLEGE DANCE DEPARTMENT PRESENTS
MOTION FLUX
Camille Claudel’s life is subject for new dance work by Robert Salas. The Dance Department at Moorpark College presents its annual spring student dance concert, “Motion Flux,” an evening of original works by student choreographers, guest artists and select faculty on April 23, 24 and 25 at 8:00pm and April 26 at 2:00pm.
A new dance work inspired by the genius and tragedy of sculptor Camille Claudel’s life will be premiered. Camille Claudel was a sculptor and rebel, whose work was ahead of her time. She scorned the bourgeois society who failed to understand her art. Betrayed by her lover, Rodin, she ventured on the fringe of madness. Artist Tina Frugoli sculptured a likeness of Rodin for the production. “I’m excited to be collaborating with other artist in bringing my vision to life,” said Robert Salas.
This year’s program, directed by Robert Salas, offers a variety of works choreographed by students and faculty, as well as the CSUCI Dance Ensemble, under the direction of Carinne Bach. Also bringing choreography to Moorpark’s main stage is guest artist La Danserie, directed by Patrick Franz. La Danserie will present two original works from their repertory: “Adagio & Fugue” and “The Low Down.”
The student choreographers presenting works for Motion Flux are Noelle Andressen-Kale, Leah Craig, Randyl Crister, Lisa Flory, Andrew Hernandez, and Tray Kennedy. Faculty choreographers include Wendi Baity, Nancy Paradis, Beth Megill and Robert Salas.
