Baseball Splits with Hancock. The Raiders split with Hancock College. In the first game, the Raiders scored first, but Hancock tied and held on for the 3-4 win. In the second game, the Raider bats finally came to life as they erupted for 11 runs in a 11-2 win.
Baseball at Ventura. The Raiders were defeated by host Ventura College, 2-8. Jim Lloyd had a double and an RBI. Jacob Fiss also collected two hits in the loss.
Baseball loses WSC Opener. The 25-game, 10-week grind that is the Western State Conference baseball season opened Thursday with the first round of North Division games. The blundering Pirates felt after escaping Moorpark with a 7-4 win despite making an incredible six errors. Moorpark starter Nick Ferdino left after seven innings with a 4-3 lead, thanks to center fielder Brandon Kitching's RBI infield single with one out in the bottom of the seventh. "We got ourselves out by swinging at a lot of bad pitches today," said Moorpark skipper Mario Porto. "It's hard enough to hit without doing that." Trailing 3-0 with two outs in bottom of the third, Moorpark's leadoff hitter Kitching struck an RBI single. Cleanup hitter Steve Domecus lead the next inning off with a solo shot to left-center field. Leading off the Moorpark sixth, right fielder Jacob Fiss doubled and tied the game at 3-3 when the Pirate threw away a sacrifice bunt.
Baseball gets by East LA. The Raiders defeated host East LA College, 8-7. Phillip Johnson went 2-4 with two doubles in the win. The home game with East LA College has been postponed for a later dated.
Baseball slowed down by LA Valley. After going 2-1 at Bakersfield, the Raiders were swept by LA Valley College in a 3 game series. In the first game, the Raiders were down 1-6, before battling back to make the score 8-6, but the Monarchs scored 3 in the last two innings to make the final 8-9. Results from the second game have the Raiders losing, but details were not available. In the last game, the Raiders jumped to a 5-1 lead only to give back a 5 run inning to LA Valley. Both teams exchanged leads before the Monarchs put it away in the 8th, 12-13.
Baseball goes 2-1 at second BC Tournament. The Raiders defeated San Diego Mesas 2-0 in the opening day of the Bakersfield College Tournament . On the second day, the Raiders picked up another win with a 8-5 win over Merced College. On the last day, the Raiders were defeated by host Bakersfield College, 6-12. Jacob Fiss and Steve Domecus lead the Raiders in hitting. The Raiders continue action as they LA Valley College in a 3 game series this weekend. Thursday's and Saturday's games will be on Raider Field.
Baseball goes 1-2 at WSC Tournament. The Raiders were defeated by Mt Sac 2-6 in the opening day of the WSC Tournament . On the second day, the Raiders picked up their first win with a 3-0 shut out of LA Harbor College. On the last day, the Raiders were defeated by El Camino, 2-3. The Raiders continue action as they travel to Bakersfield for the 2nd BC Tournament this weekend.
Baseball lose Season opener. Along with the weather issues, the Raider's season opener was not a good one as they were defeated by host Goldenwest, 6-14. The Raiders continue action as they host the WSC Tournament this weekend.
Baseball Season opener delayed. Due to the big winter storm, the opening BC Tournament was cancelled. Instead the Raiders will travel to Goldenwest, Weds., January 30th for the season opener.
