Birthday Parties
We do Birthday Parties at the Zoo (on weekends only).
This includes a personal 45-minute birthday show with approximately 10-14 animals of quite a variety, and free admission to the zoo for the day.
Cost is $150 for 1 - 40 people, and $200 for 41 - 80 people. (Under 2 years old is free.)
(This price takes effect for Birthday shows booked AFTER August 1st, 2012)
There is a non-refundable deposit of $50.00, and the balance is due on the day of the show.
Our Saturday and Sunday Birthday shows start at 10:30am and 2pm. The 10:30am morning show is a private show (before the zoo is open to the public). The 2pm show may have the public in the Wildlife Theater to view the show, since the zoo is open to the public from 11am to 5pm. (You still have the picnic tables reserved for the 2pm show.) You may arrive 30 minutes or so before the start of the show, to get set up and so everyone can be seated before the show starts.
There are picnic tables available, for you and your group to use. You may bring food, or make your own arrangements to have it delivered (Pizza seems to be a favorite). Don't forget to bring the cake and presents...!!!!
You can call us to schedule/reserve your specific date. Be aware that during the Summer months these weekend Birthday parties at the Zoo are quite popular, so we suggest you contact us well in advance to reserve the date you want. You can call us at 805-378-1441 (this is the best choice, since we can usually look up your date availability while you are on the phone, or we will take a message and get back to you) or you can also email us at EATM@vcccd.edu - It may be several days before we can return your call/email... but we will get back to you.
Special Animal Presentations
Special Animal Presentations, Field Trips, Goup Shows and Zoo Tours can be scheduled for school or other groups, for field trips or any other type of outings.
America’s Teaching Zoo is an excellent location for field trips and group shows!
Field trip and group shows are offered during the week.
Shows are offered Monday - Friday year-round and begin at 10:30am (10:00am, in the summer). These shows last 45 minutes. An optional tour is offered following the show and also lasts 45 minutes. Tours are always available after a show.
Show prices for schools and groups are $70 for the first 30 people and $2 per person after that. Tours are a flat fee of $50. (These special presentations must be scheduled well in advance. Minimum age is 2 years.)
Shows are booked on a first come first served basis and we book several weeks to several months in advance. We will book multiple groups in a day if we have space. Our bleachers allow for an audience of approximately 300 people.
Bus accommodations are available. If your group is traveling in cars, please allow a minimum of 20 minutes to find parking as we are located on a college campus, which can be busy during the week. Parking passes will be sent along with your contract but close parking spaces are not guaranteed.
Since we are closed to the general public during the week and have a limited number of picnic tables, we cannot offer a place to stay for lunch or snack. However, there are two local public parks located very nearby that you are welcome to use for a lunch break before returning to your destination.
To book a show or request more information, please email or call (805) 378-1441 and ask to be connected to “Show Booking.” Please leave a detailed message including your name, group’s name, contact number, address for a contract and dates of interest.
Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you.
