Below is a list of the Summer Camp weeks available.... CHECK THIS LIST BEFORE MAILING YOUR APPLICATION - WE WILL NOTE WEEKS THAT BECOME FULL.
June 16-20 (ages 6-7 years)
June 23-27 (ages 8-11 years) FULL...!!!!! This week is full...!!!
June 30-July 3 (ages 12-14 years) (NOTE - no camp on Friday July 4 holiday..) IMPORTANT --- Due to this shortened week, camp cost for this week is less -- $220 for Full-day & $120 for Early Bird or Night Owl..
July 7-11 (ages 6-7 years)
July 14 to 18 (ages 8 to 11 years) FULL...!!!!! This week is full...!!!
July 21 to 25 (ages 12 to 14 years) FULL...!!!! This week is full...!!!
July 28-Aug 1 (ages 6-7 years)
Aug 4 to 8 (ages 8 to 11 years) FULL...!!!!! This week is full...!!!
General Camp Information
Camp Hours
A full camp day runs from 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. If your child is unable to attend a full day we have "early bird" and "night owl" options available. An Early Bird's day runs from 8:30a.m. to 12:00p.m. A Night Owl's day runs from 1:00p.m. to 4:30p.m. All camp sessions begin with drop-off/sign-in with a camp counselor at the front of the zoo.
Activities
Camp activities include animal presentations, handling opportunities*, art projects, and science projects. All activities have been developed by our professional zoo education staff with the campers age in mind. Activities will occur within the safety of zoo grounds under the direct supervision of our trained camp staff. The campers will have special access to the back areas, barns, classrooms, zoo kitchen, and wildlife theater.
Full day campers are required to bring a lunch (please note: refrigeration is not available). We provide a morning snack and drinks each day. Please do not send food items that require heating.
Fridays are special days here at the zoo. Full day campers and Night Owls will have the special privilege of inviting their family and friends to attend an animal show that they have prepared and star in. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see what your camper has learned during their week, so bring your cameras. Early Birds are not included in this opportunity, so please chose your session carefully.
Camp Staff
All of the Junior Safari Camp Staff are Graduates of the Exotic Animal Training and Management Program here at Moorpark College. They are all very familiar with the animals in our collection and will do everything possible to ensure that your camper has a great time.
