About Brendan

Brendan, a Ventura County native, attended Moorpark College in the late 1990's and transferred from Moorpark to UCLA. He graduated from UCLA in 2002 with a BS in Pure Mathematics and Philosophy. Next he received his MS in Pure Mathematics from Cal Poly Pomona in 2005. With a strong pure math foundation, Brendan then earned his PhD in Mathematical Behavioral Science at UC Irvine in 2008. Brendan has been the Mathematics Faculty assigned to the Math Center since Fall of 2008. In addition to his Math Center duties, Brendan also teaches at least one math class each semester. Brendan has been married since 2004 to Thuy Purdy, whom he met at Moorpark College in Diana Nguyen's Math 25B class. Thuy is currently an Inpatient Pharmacist for Kaiser Permanmente. They have two children, Liam and Mai. Brendan is an avid runner, surfer, and triathlete. As time allows, Brendan does research in the fields of Mathematical Psychology and Game Theory as well as in the intersection of literature, philosophy, and theology in Catholic thought.
