The Moorpark College Art Gallery is pleased to present the exhibition, “The Democratic & Magic Brain: An exhibition inquiring into the aesthetics and promises of cell phone photography.” In this exhibit, 13 artists respond to the questions: Is cell phone photography building community, intimacy, and relationships? Is photography fulfilling its promise as a democratic visual art? Has magic returned to photography? In a larger sense, these artists are looking at how the cell phone camera has altered the photographs of professionals, as well as the overall impact that this innovation has had on our need to visually document the world we live in.
This exhibition will feature works by: Stephen Callis, Chris Otcasek, John Grzywacz-Gray, Dan Winters, Mitch Sondreaal, Roger Tully, Becky Savell, Karin Johansson, Matt Mahurin, Jonathan Castillo, Maria Nikolis, Janet Sternberg and Becky Brister.
A portion of all sales in the exhibit will go towards the John Grzywacz-Gray Photography Department Scholarship.
