PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT YOUR PROGRAM. The Child Development Laboratory (CDL) offers an exemplary early care and education experience for children aged 2 years, 9 months through 5 years. Affiliated with the college Child Development Department, the Laboratory serves as a practicum and observation site for members of the Moorpark College community. Full, partial, and half time program options are available for students, staff, and community families, as well as a Parent-Toddler program for 18-month olds. Since we are part of the college instructional program, the CDL follows the same school calendar. The Fall semester begins in mid-August and ends with Winter break in December. The Spring semester begins in mid-January and ends in mid-May. We observe the same holiday schedule as the college with the addition of an in-service day for staff development each semester. HOW OLD DO CHILDREN HAVE TO BE TO BE ENROLLED IN YOUR PROGRAM? For the Toddlers Program, children must be 18 months and not 3 years old by December 1 of the school year at the time of entrance. For the Preschool, children must be 3 years to 5 years old by December 1 of the school year. WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS TO GET MY CHILD IN YOUR PROGRAM?Single parents and parents who carry a load of 12 units or more at Moorpark College are given priority, followed in order by parents carrying fewer than 12 units, staff, faculty, and community. WHAT ARE THE DAYS AND HOURS AVAILABLE? Option 1: Morning Program Enhancements to Morning Program for an Extra Fee Option 2: Afternoon Program Enhancement to Afternoon Program for an Extra Fee **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** Enhancements to Morning Program: Option 4: Full Day (To be used along with Option 1 and Available by Priority of Parent Status and Teacher Staffing as Outlined Below under "Policy"). The hours for Full Days are as follows: Policy - Parents who carry a unit load of 12 units or more are given priority as mandated by the State Chancellor's office, followed in order by parents carrying fewer than 12 units, staff, faculty, and community. The number of spaces available is contingent on availability of staff. **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** The Toddler Program meets on Fridays. There are two sessions: the first is from 9:00 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.; the second is from 11:00 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. This is a dual program for children and a parent who is enrolled in the CD M60A - Toddler Program class. Registration for this course requires prior pre-registration arrangements through the CDC. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? We are grateful to Moorpark College for its support of the Child Development Laboratory. This continued funding allows us to offer reduced tuition and fees to students, faculty and staff. For the preschool, children's tuition vary based on the status of his/her parent(s). The tuition is as follows:

Course fees, child fees and health records are due at registration during the first class session. HOW MANY CHILDREN ARE IN A CLASS? For the preschool, the classes are mixed-age grouping. There are 16 children to a minimum of 3 adults in each room. WHAT KIND OF QUALIFICATIONS DO YOUR TEACHERS HAVE?All Associate Teachers have a minimum of a B.A. and qualify for the State of California Child Development Master Teacher Permit. All Assistant Teachers qualify for the State of California Child Development Teacher Permit. DO YOU ACCEPT ‘SPECIAL NEEDS' CHILDREN? All children are accepted and enrolled into our program following all District, State and Federal guidelines including the most recent Americans with Disabilities Act. WHAT KINDS OF THINGS DO THE CHILDREN IN THE PRESCHOOL DO DURING THE DAY? We have a developmentally appropriate preschool level program, which is based on the Child Development model. The CDC (Child Development Center) is located on the southeast corner of campus, near the main perimeter road, south of the Bookstore/Campus Center. HOW DO I GO ABOUT GETTING MY CHILD'S NAME ON YOUR WAITING LIST? The parent needs to fill out an application for the Child Development Center.
