Training Paths
Choose this option if you have completed the Blackboard Vista (WebCT) training and wish to continue using a Learning Management System for your Hybrid or Online courses.
Choose this option if you have NOT previously completed the Blackboard Vista (WebCT) training, but wish to complete the first step in becoming certified for Hybrid or Online Instruction.
Recommended for faculty who do not require the complexity of a full Learning Management System for Distance Education, but would like a certain level of web-enhancement for their courses.
Desire2Learn for Current Blackboard Users
(Distance Education Re-Certification)
- This workshop will focus on the transition from Blackboard to Desire2Learn.
- On-campus option includes 4 hours of instruction. Additional hours may be required to complete activities outside of the workshop.
- Online option option requires activities to be completed within 30 days of enrollment.

Equivalent Training
If you have completed Desire2Learn or Blackboard Vista (WebCT) training at another institution, please provide documentation, such as a certificate or letter.
Desire2Learn for New Users
- Prerequisite: Basic computer proficiency, including basic word processing, e-mail, and internet navigational skills. (If you do not have these skills you may consider taking a course like CIS M15: Introduction to the Personal Computer).
- On-campus option includes 8 hours of instruction, split into two sessions. Up to 2 additional hours may be required to complete activities outside of the workshop.
- Online option requires activities to be completed within 30 days of enrollment.
- This workshop will provide an in-depth training on the tools and features of the Desire2Learn Learning Management System.

Online Pedagogy
- Prerequisite: Certification in district-supported Learning Management System (Desire2Learn)
- Includes 2-hour on-site session and 10-hour online course (to be completed within 30 days of finishing on-ground session).
- Introduces best practices and special considerations for online pedagogy.
- Must complete this workshop or equivalent prior to teaching an Online or Hybrid course.

Course Delivery
Various Distance Education course delivery methods require different levels of training. Following are the definitions for the Distance Education designations at Moorpark College.
- Web-Enhanced Course: All of the contact hours are onground with supplemental material online.
- Hybrid Course: Course in which part of the instruction and associated activities are delivered via the web and the other part is delivered via traditional methods.
- Online Course: Course in which all instruction and associated activities are delivered via the web. (Note: Some online courses may require on-site orientations and/or testing).
- Televideo Course: Course content delivered via television broadcast or video DVD/CD/tape.
Note: All Hybrid and Online courses must have been approved through the Curriculum Committee and appear in the official Schedule of Classes as designated.
