Greetings all Raiders! My name is Renee Ayala and I am a new addition to the EOPS Center. I am really excited about being an active member of the Moorpark College community and making lasting relationships with students.
I started my career at Oxnard College and since that time I have continued to work in student services at the community college level in some capacity. Early on in my education I was blessed to have such an enthusiastic and encouraging counselor that pushed me to pursue my education and the impossible. Having received the gift of encouragement I knew right away that I wanted to pass that gift on to other students.
After graduating with my B.A. I continued on my education at California Lutheran University. I knew in my heart if I took time off from school I might never return. Once again, I embarked on a new academic journey by attending graduate school. Not knowing what to expect and feeling anxious I marched forward. Finally, in 2003 after a lot of hard work and late nights writing papers I earned my Masters degree in Counseling and Guidance in addition to my Pupil Personnel Service Credential. I say all this to encourage those reading this that anything is possible. Forget what others have said about your talents and abilities and begin to dream again and reach for the stars. They're limitless!!!
My mission as an academic counselor involves serving students with excellence as well as encouraging their academic/career dreams and visions. Having the opportunity to assist students through the college system is one of my greatest callings. Overall, I am looking forward to meeting the many people that will be changed as they pursue their dreams.
