The Read
The Read is a poetry reading featuring guest poets, faculty poets, Moorpark College Allumni and Moorpark College students. It was created by Professor Sandra Hunter, who continues to produce and direct the event.
Spring Performances of The Read . Unless otherwise stated, The Read takes place on the 3rd floor of the Library Learning resources building.

Featured Event: SWAN DAY with Michele Serros
SWAN stands for Support Women Artisits Now. On International SWAN Day, Moorpark College will host Michele Serros, author of Honey Blonde Chica, Chicana Falsa and How to Be a Chicana Role Model. Time and location TBA.
Poetry Workshops
Sandra Hunter's Poetry Sessions: Before each performance of The Read and on alternate Wednesdays Sandra Hunter facilitates a Poetry Workshop that is open to the public. Workshops are held in LLR 318 at 4:00 on the dates of each Read. First session of Spring 2010 Semester is on January 20th at 4:00. Inner-Words: Find Your Voice through Writing. These creative writing sessions are open to anyone and aimed at helping participants uncover the voices within them. The session is facilitated by Kathryn Adams. Inner-Words is open to the public and meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 5:00pm to 5:50pm. First session is January 26 at 5pm in LLR 318. Veterans' Writing Workshop. These writing sessions are open to current or former military (U.S. or global), family of military, and civilians who have experienced war. While writing prompts and activities do not intentionally focus on these experience, the Veterans' writing Workshop is a place where military can feel comfortable sharing whatever the writing brings. The Veterans' Writing Workshop takes place on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 5:00pm - 5:50pm.
Razor Babes
Razor Babes are a group of poets who perform their work at regional events.
