For 18 years, Dena Stevens has served the students, staff, and faculty of Moorpark College as a college nurse. “Dena has re-written every standard of her job for the better and handles every situation she is given with the utmost professionalism,” Sharon Manakas, the coordinator of the Health Center stated. Dena treats each student with respect and compassion and models the importance of education through the teaching in-classroom presentations on topics such as suicide prevention training, child birth, and sexually transmitted infections. She is selfless and willing to go to great lengths to help students, staff and faculty be the best they can be on and off campus.
Districtwide Classified Employee of the Year
Dena Stevens was selected by her peers as the 2018 VCCCD Classified Employee of the Year. Her name will be provided to the California Community College Board of Governors for consideration as the statewide 2018 California Community Colleges Classified Employee of the Year, an award recognizing and honoring classified employees who demonstrate the highest level of commitment to the California Community Colleges, professional ethics and standards, serving the institution through participation in professional and/or community activities, and serving as a leader beyond the local institution. Up to six statewide classified employees will be selected and honored during the May Board of Governors’ Meeting in Sacramento.
