The Student Activity Fee
This fee provides the Associated Students of Moorpark College (ASMC) the ability to support student life beyond the classroom by funding opportunities for students to become engaged, involved, and connected with the campus.
This fee supports campus student clubs and organizations and the ASMC Board of Directors, your officially elected student government, who host a variety of diverse campus events, sponsor off-campus field trips, and attend state and national conferences representing Moorpark College. Here are just a handful of examples of what has been funded by the Student Activity Fee in the last few years:
- Annual fall and spring Club Rush events, which connect students to the college’s 40+ active student clubs and organizations
- Materials and awards for RAIDERx, a TEDx-style event featuring original talks by Moorpark College students
- Excursions to the Aquarium of the Pacific and the California SciCenter
- Robotics materials and registration for the MC Engineering Club to participate in state and nation-wide VEX Robotics competitions
- Entrance and travel fees for the Enthusiastic Programmers club to attend university-sponsored Hackathons throughout the U.S., including Harvard Hacks and Cal Hacks Berkeley
- Field trip to the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA for the Women in Engineering, Math and Science (WEMS) Club
- Custom club-branded apparel for the Moorpark College American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) student chapter members
- Money for food and teambuilding activities for the DREAMers Club
- Performers and speakers for the cultural events such as Latinx Heritage Month, Black History Month, and Women’s History Month, among others
- Promotion of college sporting events and handing out spirit gear to students who attended home athletic games
This small $5 contribution to the diverse student body of Moorpark College. Through the use of this fee, College Associated Students ASMC Board of Directors is committed to providing opportunities for students to connect and became engaged in their campus. It enriches student lives and enhances student experiences, resulting in a more successful student.
