Financial Aid Program Types

Financial aid programs help level the field for all students and provide access to higher education for many who otherwise lack the opportunity. Federal Aid. Federal aid programs include:

  • Federal grants
  • Federal loans
  • Federal work study

California State Aid. Aid available from the State of California includes:

  • Cal Grants
  • Chafee Grants
  • Incentive grants

California Community College State Aid. Aid available from the California Community Colleges includes:

  • California College Promise Grant
  • California College Promise Program Grant
  • Student Success and Completion Grant

Other Common Types of Aid. Other types of aid commonly available to California community college students include:

  • Private loans
  • Scholarships
  • Emergency aid
  • State fee waivers

The three main entities providing aid to our students are the U.S. Department of Education, the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) and the California Community Colleges Board of Governors
