The Moorpark College Art Gallery is pleased to present the exhibition, “Drawings,” by Los Angeles based artist Brian Mallman. Mallman describes this collection of graphite drawings as interpretations of interaction and communication. In his work, he looks at how posture and gestures are used to punctuate speech and how they also become a display of non-verbal social hierarchy. Mallman draws archetypes of people, pulling from those he encounters in life, as well as many otheres he observes on television, the Internet and in magazines. Through the drawings he is able to explore and study the non-verbal communication and the power plays that occur as we interact.
Brian Mallman received his BFA from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. He exhibits his work locally and nationally; including recent solo exhibits with Gallery 825/Los Angeles Art Association, Haus Gallery in Pasadena, Milo Gallery in Los Angeles and Migration Gallery in Charlottesville, VA.
