Students can gain experience within their area of career focus while receiving academic credit and financial support. This unique program aims to provide job training  for students while also supporting local employers and industry partners in our community.  

If you’re a student who would like a paid internship, or if you’re an employer interested in obtaining student interns, please read on for additional details.  

Moorpark College can:  

• Under certain circumstances, provide funding to pay students’ wages
• Cover liability
• Help connect students with employers, who serve as networking partners 
• Provide employer assistance with placement and outreach and develop objectives for student learning through faculty advisor mentorship
• Assist students with career readiness and job development 

Employers can: 

• Create internship opportunities in partnership with the Moorpark College Career Center
• Design tasks and projects that offer direct work experience related to their major and provide close supervision of students 
• Provide equipment, materials, and other resources to help students grow in their experience and understanding within a safe and positive work environment 
• Understand that a student intern does not replace or displace any employee of the business 

Students can:  

• Commit to an internship within their major and the intent of gaining work experience related to their field of study 
• Understand that this is an educational opportunity to gain skills and knowledge to increase your future opportunities 
• Intern for the hours enrolled in the M80 Program that is agreed upon by both the student and the employer Students are paid approximately $20 an hour 
• Maintain a regular internship schedule and obey the policies, rules and regulations of the employer 

How to start?  

• Employers can contact our office at MCCareerCenter@vcccd.edu to begin the process 

• Students can book an appointment by logging on to their Handshake Account

1. Contact your professor and ask if they have an internship opportunity available
2. Complete the On-Campus Internship Agreement Form with your professor. The form is accessed within your professor’s Faculty Portal under:

   3. On-Campus Internship Agreement
3. An Adobe Sign document will be emailed to you to complete. After completion of the Adobe Sign, a Canvas shell will become available for students and faculty to assign tasks and monitor progress

While the Career Center cannot give off-campus internships to students directly, we can help students apply by strengthening their resume and interview skills. We encourage students to search on Handshake or LinkedIn to discover local internship opportunities. 

Internships are often required for many majors at Moorpark College. Even if it is not a requirement, you may still benefit from an internship.
