2010 COCA-COLA COMMUNITY COLLEGE ACADEMIC TEAM

Who can apply: The essay topic can focus on such issues as community service, research, the arts, journalism, public affairs, etc. Overcoming obstacles to attend community college and having family and/or work obligations are not criteria for the award. Must be currently enrolled at a community college through Dec 2009. Must have a cumulative college-level GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for all coursework completed in the last five years (fall 2004-present.) Students must be on track to earn an associate’s or bachelor's degree. Minimum 36 semester college-level credits completed at or transferred to a community college by Dec 31, 2009 and 48 semester college-level credits by Aug 31, 2010. Students must have a minimum of 30 semester college-level credit hours completed at a community college in the past five years. Must have a community college record free of suspension, probation or other serious disciplinary action. Nominee must not have a criminal record, and if a convicted felon, must have all conditions of sentencing, including probation, completed.
MORRIS K. UDALL 2010 UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

Award: up to $5,000
Who can apply: Be committed to a career related to the environment, or committed to a career in tribal public policy, or Native American health care; be sophomores or juniors pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree; GPA of 3.5 and above; U.S. citizen, U.S. national or permanent resident required. Applicants are nominated by their current college.

Who can apply: Be of Hispanic heritage; U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; cumulative GPA 3.0; plan to enroll full-time in a degree seeking program at a two or four-year U.S. accredited institution during the 2010-2011 academic year. Must apply for financial aid.

Who can apply: Must be a Ventura County community college student transferring as a junior fall 2010 to an accredited university in California, and intend to pursue a career in public education.

Who can apply: The strongest candidates must excel academically and have considerable unmet financial need. Must be nominated by his/her college; be a current student at a community college with sophomore status by December 31, 2009, or a recent graduate; GPA 3.5 or higher in all college-level courses, and plan to transfer to a four-year college/university fall 2010.
Applicant must demonstrate determination and perseverance, success in other pursuits, or assumption of significant school responsibility. Must demonstrate: leadership and public service; critical thinking ability; participation in or strong appreciation for the Arts & Humanities.

UC BERKELEY ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Award: up to $6,000
Who can apply: UC Berkeley applicant; California resident (AB 540 accepted); GPA 3.0 and above, and a family income of $86,000 or less. The Achievement Award Program is a scholarship program for students with significant financial need who have demonstrated a commitment to community service and volunteerism. Awarded scholars receive up to $6,000 each year and a new laptop computer. The Achievement Award Program is a four-year scholarship program for incoming freshman and a two-year scholarship program for junior transfer students. Apply Online!
