Health Science & Medical Technology
Basic (EMT-B) functions as an entry level emergency health care team member and provider of
emergency care. They are employed on ambulances with fire departments and private ambulance companies, Hospital Emergency Rooms, sporting events, special events and T.V. and movie production. Other options include employment by insurance companies, lifeguard and police agencies. The program is accredited by the Ventura County Emergency Medical Services Agency.
Radiologic technology is the art and science of using radiation to provide images of bones, internal organs, soft tissues and vessels that comprise the human body. Diagnosis and treatment of a patient depends on the accurate and precise production of a radiographic examination. The Moorpark Program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee of Education for Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and the State of California Depart of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch (RHB). Registered technologists may work in hospitals, major medical centers, trauma center, outpatient clinics, orthopedic/sports medicine clinics and mobile radiography services.
With additional education there are many choices for the radiographer seeking diversity and promotion in many areas of health care such as with imaging equipment, mammography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, PACS Specialist and radiation therapy.
