I came to Moorpark College EOPS in the Spring of 1990. A native Californian, I attended Oxnard College where I earned an AA degree in Liberal Arts. At UC Santa Barbara, I earned a BA degree in Sociology and at CSU Northridge I earned an MS degree in Counseling.

I am a wife and mother of two and understand the obstacles and stresses of the reentry, single parent student because I was once one myself as an undergraduate. Because of this, the special needs of this population have been a primary interest for me. As a reentry student, I was unsure of my options, concerned about finances and in need of a lot of guidance.

I received a tremendous amount of assistance from my college counselors when I needed it. As a result, I have dedicated my entire career to provide students with the assistance I once received and I am always pleased to do what I can to assist students in reaching their academic goals. My own background has also been helpful in assisting students who participate in the CARE program.

As the CARE counselor, I have the opportunity to work closely with single parents on AFDC. The special needs of this population requires empathy and the ability to provide a supportive environment. I can honestly say that, for me, there is nothing more rewarding than watching the academic growth and development of self-esteem in students who were once uncertain and apprehensive of their abilities.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the movies and listening to music. If you would like more information on the EOPS or CARE programs, come and see me. I would love to meet you.
