Obtain your MC student ID card
How to buy an MC student ID card
Currently registered students can purchase a Moorpark College ID online via their MyVCCCD portal:
- Log in to My.VCCCD.edu
- Click on the "Register / Pay" tab
- Navigate to the "Payment and Payment Plans" section at the top right of the page if you're using a laptop or a desktop computer (this section is halfway down the page if you are viewing on your cell phone or a similar device)
- Click on the link that says "Purchase Student Photo ID."
- Select the term for which you wish to purchase your ID card (you must also be registered for classes for that term) and click submit. This will add the $15 or $10 charge to your Student Schedule Bill.
- To pay the Student Schedule Bill, click on the ePayment button under the "Payment and Payment Plans" section and follow the instructions.
Students who prefer to purchase their ID cards while on campus can visit the Student Business Office to do so. Check out the Student Business Office's website to learn their hours. (NOTE: the Student Business Office is closed during the COVID campus closure. This option will not be available to students until the campus reopens at a safe time.)
How much do student ID cards cost?
An ID card can be purchased during fall semester registration for $15 for the entire academic year or for $10 for a semester ID.
Students who buy ID cards will receive an email inviting them to download our digital ID card (see "Digital student IDs" section). While digital IDs are our default, students can submit a request to have a physical ID produced (see "How to get your ID card made" section).
Can I buy an ID card during any term, or can I only buy it during fall semester?
Students who buy an ID card at the time of spring registration may purchase it for a semester, as the year-long ID card is available only at the beginning of the academic year. A student who registers in spring but purchases a year ID at $15 will be produced a semester ID and directed to the Moorpark College Student Business Office for a refund of the $5 balance, as year-long ID cards can only be produced in the summer or fall for the current academic year.
Beginning Fall 2020, students who purchase IDs through the MyVCCCD portal will receive an email to their @MyVCCCD address, inviting them to create their digital Moorpark College student ID card. Email invitations are sent every two weeks as data on purchasers is received.
Instructions on how to download the app to create your digital ID card will be included in the email invitation. Click on this link for guidance on an appropriate photo to use on your digital ID:
Digital ID cards will be the default ID card for students, though physical IDs will be available to students upon request. See the "How to get your physical ID card made" section above for more details.
In order for us to be able to produce your ID card and mail it to you, we will need you to send an email to asmcboard@vcccd.edu from your MyVCCCD email address the following documentation and information:
- A copy of your student schedule bill, showing the student ID card fee was selected and paid. To access your student schedule bill, log in to your MyVCCCD portal, click on the “Register / Pay” tab, find the header that says “Payment and Payment Plans,” and click on the link under the silver ePayment button that says “Students Schedule Bill”. Continue to follow the prompts to download the statement or to take a screenshot of it.
- An image of your valid government-issued identification. Examples of appropriate IDs include government-issued IDs such as a state identification card, a driver’s license, or passport, among others. While you can redact some confidential information (e.g., driver's license number), we should be able to see your photo, your name, and an expiration date.
- A current head-shot. This is similar to a passport photo.
- Your current mailing address.
If you are enrolled in one of Moorpark College’s Health Science programs (e.g., Nursing Science, EMT Program, Rad Tech Program, Nuclear Medicine, or Optical Technology), please indicate this in your email as well so we can produce the appropriate program-specific ID card.
Once we receive your request, your student ID card will be produced and mailed within 1-2 weeks, as we are only allowed on campus intermittently during the COVID-19 closures.
Students may have their physical student ID cards produced in person at the Student Activities Office, located in the Campus Center. In order for an ID card to be made on the spot, students must provide the following:
- Proof of purchase (by showing a receipt or their student schedule bill)
- Another form of identification (driver's license, state-issued ID, passport, previous school's ID)
- Student ID number (900- number; can be found in MyVCCCD portal or on schedule bill)
ID card perks
There are lots of great reasons to purchase a Moorpark College student ID card. Here are just a few of the perks students with ID cards can take advantage of when on campus:
Free admission to MC Zoo
Students with a current, valid MC student ID card receive free admission to America's Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College. That's a savings of $8 each visit! Visit the America's Teaching Zoo website for more details about the zoo's hours of operation and its exhibits.
Discounts for MC theatre arts performances
Students receive discount prices to plays, dances, and other events put on at the MC Performing Arts Center. For more information about upcoming shows, visit the Performing Arts Center website.
Free stuff at ASMC-hosted events
The Associated Students of Moorpark College (ASMC) hosts a ton of events on campus throughout the year, like Club Rush, Movie Nights, and other fun activities. Students with valid MC ID cards are often entitled to free giveaways, like shirts or food, at these events.
Free admission to MC athletic events
As an MC student, you can support any of our 16 intercollegiate sports teams at their home games, matches, or races for free when you show your MC ID card at the entrance. Visit the Athletics page to learn more about MC sports teams and to see their calendars.
Having an MC ID card makes it easier to sell back your textbooks
To sell your textbooks back, the MC Barnes & Noble bookstore requires that students present an ID that also includes their 900- number (MC-issued student identification number). An MC student ID card includes all the identifying information needed to sell your used textbooks back to the school.
Many MC offices require valid ID for their transactions
Student services offices, such as the Student Business Office, the Bookstore, and Admissions & Records, will require identification in order to provide information to a student. Many of these departments will consider the MC student ID card to be a valid form of ID.
The Associated Students of Moorpark College (ASMC) has partnered up with dozens of local eateries, shops and businesses to offer you discounts, simply by showing your current valid MC student ID card. Scroll down the section to see some of the discounts (vendors listed alphabetically).
