Get to know your Math and Science Center Tutors!

Sidra
My name is Sidra and I’m a Chemistry tutor! I also tutor Calculus and some Physics but Chemistry is my area of expertise since I am also a Chemistry major. I love tutoring and spreading knowledge especially about Chemistry since a lot of students don’t particularly like the subject and groan at the sight of it. My hobbies include reading and playing various video games as well as playing my ukulele and I hope to one day become a PhD graduate for Chemistry! Can’t wait to meet future Chemistry enthusiast.
Lauren
Hello! My name is Lauren and I graduated from UC Irvine with a degree in Chemistry. Subjects I like tutoring are chemistry, biology and algebra. I enjoy tutoring because I love the feeling of making students feel comfortable enough to ask questions and help them form passion for the subjects they study. When I’m not tutoring I like climbing, cross stitching and reading.
Cameron
Hi! My name is Cameron and I'm a second year student at Moorpark College, working towards a degree in Mathematics! I tutor most of the Math and Computer Science courses offered on campus. My favorite part about being a tutor and spreading knowledge is when I can make students enjoy a subject more than when they came into the center! When I'm not tutoring, I like to play video games, draw, and do even more math.
Andrew
Hi! My name is Andrew, and I'm a current student here at Moorpark College. I'm a CS major, but I love helping out with math. I can tutor in any math at or below Calc II as well as Stats, but I can try to help out with Calc III if the need arises. I hope that we can break down a problem together and build a stronger understanding of the concept!
Mason
Hello! My name is Mason and I tutor Math and Physics classes in the tutoring center. I graduated from UC Irvine with a double major in Physics and Math. I used to tutor at UCI and now I’ve come here to do the same because I enjoy it so much! My favorite part is probably the sense of community that peer tutoring builds among both the tutors and the students. I also hope to make people see that you don’t have to be crazy to like physics and math…well maybe a little bit. I play a lot of video games and watch movies but I really like exploring outdoors and am looking forward to doing some backpacking soon.
Micah
I am an industrial engineering major at Cal Poly Pomona. I tutor many subjects at the math & science center, most math and physics courses, but am willing to look at others as well. I am not a robot.

Adel (he/him)
With a flair for creative problem-solving and a love for the thrill of debugging, I'm a born programmer who loves to share my passion for code. As a dedicated tutor, I bring my enthusiasm and real-world experience to every class, making complex programming concepts approachable and exciting for students of all levels. Whether it's breaking down code line by line or building projects from scratch, I aim to ignite a lifelong love for programming in each and every student.

Mauricio (he/him)

Hello! I am Mauricio!
I am an anatomy tutor. I actually feel very lucky about working with Moorpark College. I have always liked sharing my interests with other people whether it be TV shows, board games, fun facts, and that is also true with the information I'm learning here at Moorpark. I am more than happy to help others at anytime!

Alette (she/her)
Hi everyone! I'm a second-year Moorpark College student majoring in Biology and Chemistry. I tutor the math sequence through calculus 2, math reasoning, statistics, biology, and chemistry. In my spare time, I intern at a local hospital, serve on Moorpark College's associated student government, play the drums, and bake.

I enjoy several things about being a tutor, but what I enjoy the most is interacting with people about different topics. Getting to work with students is fun and rewarding, and I love getting to know everyone. Constantly sharing academic information helps keep my own brain sharp as well.

Fun facts about me: I'm EMT trained and am also working to receive a MakerSpace certification from Moorpark College. Learning is one of the most powerful things you can do!

Ryan (he/him)
Hello! I’m Ryan, and I’m pleased to be working as a tutor at Moorpark College, where I am also currently a student. I am interested in the field of machine learning and aspire to become a machine learning researcher in the future. I tutor most of the mathematics, physics, and computer science courses that are available on campus. Specifically, I tutor up to Calculus III, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, PHYS M20A and M20B, and all of the computer science major requirement courses. My favorite aspects of tutoring are that it keeps concepts fresh in my mind, and allows me to further understand the material by revisiting these concepts. Additionally, it is very rewarding to see when a student is finally able to understand a concept, and this is my main motivation for tutoring.

Osbelia (she/her)
My passions are in teaching and helping others! I have tutored math and stats for several years now, and I find it very rewarding to work with students! I love seeing how students gain a sense of self-confidence and build up their math-esteem through tutoring! When I'm not tutoring, I like to watch Family Feud, play softball or tennis, go hiking, or sing karaoke.

Brandon (he/him)
Hi! My name is Brandon and I am currently a Mathematics/Computer Science major at Moorpark. My favorite part about being a tutor is getting to know a bunch of different students and watching them succeed over time! When I’m not tutoring or studying, I like to spend time training martial arts, cooking, or playing the piano.

Daniella (she/her)
Hi :) My name is Daniella and I’m an anatomy tutor (but if you pop by with chemistry or physiology questions, I can help, too). I love tutoring because I love sharing knowledge and talking to people! When I’m not tutoring, I’m probably reading a novel or practicing my fencing skills (through video games).

Remy (he/him)
A former Moorpark student who has since transferred, currently studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UC Berkeley. I have been a Moorpark tutor since 2019 and primarily tutor the Math and Physics courses. Outside of the center, I love to go on hikes, read new books, or, when time permits, catch up on video games. One of the best parts of tutoring is seeing the student's progress when they are working hard on learning the subject. I hope to cultivate an appreciation of learning in all students working with me.

Esha (she/her)
Hello everyone, I am a biology major and I love to tutor different forms of biology and chemistry! What I like best about being a tutor is helping students fulfill their goals and having a safe space to work on homework. I came to the tutoring center a lot for general chemistry, and I am glad that I can provide the same services tutoring those same subjects!
