10:00 AM - 10:45 AM

The Moorpark College Veterans Resource Center invites the campus community and the public to attend its annual 9/11 Day of Remembrance Ceremony on Friday, September 11, at 10:00 a.m. Attendees will meet at the campus flagpole, located between Fountain Hall and the Administration Building on the North end of campus. Coffee and donuts will be served followed by a brief ceremony honoring the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the bravery of all those who were called to serve.

Observed annually, the 9/11 Day of Remembrance provides an opportunity for the Moorpark College community to pause, reflect, and remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. This year commemorates the 25th anniversary of the events of that day and honors all first responders, including firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel, dispatchers, healthcare professionals, military service members, and emergency management personnel.

This year's ceremony will feature welcoming remarks from Moorpark College President Dr. Julius Sokenu, a distinguished keynote address by Prof. John Everlove, Allied Health Coordinator and EMS Programs Director/Instructor, and a performance of the National Anthem before the community joins together in a moment of silence.

Each year we gather as a campus community to honor those we lost, and to recognize the first responders, healthcare professionals, military members, their families, and our own students preparing for careers in public service. Their dedication reminds us that service to others remains one of humanity's greatest strengths. - Dr. Eddie Beltran, Coordinator of the Moorpark College Veterans Resource Center.
