All active-duty students seeking to utilize Veterans Resource Center services must complete the Veteran Student Intake Form before accessing VRC services or scheduling an appointment with a VRC Counselor. The intake form helps our team understand your educational goals, military affiliation, and applicable educational benefits.

Submit your official military transcripts and transcripts from previously attended colleges to Moorpark College Admissions and Records.
Your prior military training and college coursework may be evaluated for applicable college credit.

After completing your VRC intake requirements, schedule an appointment with a VRC Counselor to develop a comprehensive educational plan.
Your counselor will help you select courses that align with your degree or certificate requirements and academic goals.

If you are using military Tuition Assistance, review your educational plan and course selections with your military education office to ensure compliance with your service's TA requirements.

Once your educational plan is completed and you have satisfied the applicable enrollment and military education requirements, register for your classes through MyVCCCD.
If you are using military Tuition Assistance, follow your service's approval procedures and coordinate your approved TA documentation with the college.

If you are using VA educational benefits, follow the VRC's enrollment certification procedures.

Military Tuition Assistance (TA)

Military Tuition Assistance may help eligible service members pay for approved college courses.
Before registering, contact your installation Education Center or Education Services Officer to confirm your eligibility, approved educational program, application requirements, and funding deadlines.

VA Educational Benefits (GI Bill®)

Eligible active-duty service members may also qualify for VA educational benefits.
The GI Bill® and military Tuition Assistance are separate programs with different eligibility requirements and payment procedures.
If you plan to use VA educational benefits, apply through the VA and complete the applicable VRC intake, counseling, and enrollment certification requirements.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

Active-duty service members may also qualify for federal and state financial aid, grants, and scholarships.
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to explore your eligibility for additional financial assistance.

Active-duty military personnel stationed in California under qualifying military orders may be eligible for an exemption from nonresident tuition.
If you are classified as a nonresident for tuition purposes, contact Moorpark College Admissions and Records to determine whether you qualify for a military tuition exemption.

You may be asked to complete a Residency Reclassification Request and provide a copy of your military orders. Eligibility is determined according to applicable California residency and military exemption requirements.

You can find required textbooks and course materials through the Moorpark College Bookstore.
Have your class schedule available when searching for books. You may also use the International Standard Book Number (ISBN) to compare textbook availability and prices from other retailers.

If you receive military orders that require you to withdraw from classes, contact Moorpark College Admissions and Records as soon as possible.
You may be eligible for a Military Withdrawal (MW) if military obligations prevent you from completing your courses.

Requesting a Military Withdrawal

Students requesting a military withdrawal must submit a withdrawal petition and a copy of their military orders or other acceptable documentation verifying the military assignment that requires withdrawal.

An approved military withdrawal is recorded as an MW on the student's academic record.
Military withdrawals do not count toward the college's permitted course repetition attempts or the calculation of academic progress for determining academic standing.
