I am the SYE counselor. I have a B.A in Sociology at California State University of Northridge and my M.S in Counseling and College Student Personnel at California Lutheran University. I am passionate about guiding and supporting diverse populations like first-generation, low income, transfer, and underrepresented students. As a former 1st-Gen student, I know the academic, psychological, and financial difficulties students may experience. I have the enthusiasm to empower and guide all students reach self-actualization and their academic goals. Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am a big fan of camping, hiking, and snorkeling in the deep blue sea.

I have been an SYE/CHESS Counselor at Moorpark College since Fall 2019.
I have 4 years of teaching experience and I am part of the Los Angeles Community District where I teach Career Planning and College Success Strategies courses for FYE and dual enrollment students. I also work with economically disadvantaged students. I am former community college, first-generation student. I attended Los Angeles City College and obtained an Associates in Liberal Arts. Being the first one in my family to attend college was not an easy task.  I faced many challenges and financial hardships.
It took me 5 years to complete my Associates, but it was the biggest accomplishment of my life. I transferred to CSLA and got a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and went on to my Masters in counseling @ at CS Dominguez Hills. I believe in the power of teamwork and a "no student left behind" ideology.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Anne completed her B.A. in Art History at U.C. Berkeley. After graduating, she worked in a variety of professional settings that included a small arts education nonprofit, as well as a case assistant at a large law firm.  She then spent 3 years working in an outpatient physical therapy clinic before circling back to the nonprofit world by participating in a year of service through AmeriCorps.  After completing her AmeriCorps service, which placed her at a K-12 education nonprofit in Santa Barbara, Annie moved further south to pursue her M.S. in Counseling and College Student Personnel at California Lutheran University.

While earning her M.S. and after, Annie held a variety of positions throughout the Ventura County Community College district; as a student services assistant at Oxnard College and an office assistant with both the Nursing and CalWORKs programs at Ventura College.  As the saying goes, variety is the spice of life, and as a Student Success Coach with SYE, Annie uses everything she has learned throughout her journey to provide a calm, encouraging, compassionate space for students to explore and identify their own pathways.
