Meet Our Team

Claudia has been at Moorpark College since 2019.  She began her career in higher education in 2005 at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Her background is in enrollment management, student services, academic advising, program & resource management and sustainability. Prior to working at Moorpark College she worked at  CSU Channel Islands as an academic advisor/program coordinator and training specialist.  She has a bachelor’s degree in Film and a Master’s in Education.  

Nazareth, a proud first-generation college student, earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from California State University, Channel Islands and a Master’s degree in Counseling from California Lutheran University. Prior to joining the Student Success Team at Moorpark College, Nazareth served in a joint position between Undergraduate Admission and a Title-III Hispanic-Serving Grant. She has also served in various other roles in Housing & Residential Education, Student Life, and New Student Orientation. Nazareth is committed on fostering the development and success of underrepresented students in higher education. She is passionate about connecting with students and focuses her work in holistic advising that centers, values, and appreciates the student experience.   

Alicia Valdez is an education professional with over 10 years of experience supporting student success in K–12 and higher education. She holds degrees from Oxnard College, CSU Channel Islands, and California Lutheran University, where she earned a master’s degree in Counseling and College Student Personnel. Alicia is passionate about helping students from diverse backgrounds achieve their academic and personal goals. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing soccer, and being outdoors.

Juan Sanchez is a first-generation community college student who attended and graduated from Oxnard College. He later transferred and earned a B.A. in Sociology from CSU Fullerton and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Counseling degree. He has many years of experience working in academic and student support services. Juan is passionate about working with at-risk, marginalized, and disproportionately impacted student populations.
