About Instructional Technologists/Designers
Instructional Technologists/Designers (ITDs) are education specialists who study and apply proven pedagogical/andragogical strategies for effective instructional delivery in face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses. Additionally, ITDs regularly research, test, and make recommendations for the inclusion of cutting-edge learning technologies meant to enhance equity and access to a variety of learning subjects in the education learning environment. ITDs provide regular and consistent support to campus and district faculty through group trainings and workshops as well as one-on-one consultations on a variety of education topics including:
- Universal Design in Learning (UDL)
- Course Design
- Educational Learning Theories
- Application of the CVC-OEI and Peralta Online Equity rubrics
- Student centered course design in Canvas
- Objectives/Outcomes based learning
- Edutainment, media, and interactive content
- POCR preparation and revision
- Section 508 and ADA compliance
- Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT)
- Instructional Technology (EdTech) support and troubleshooting

Canvas Certification Training
Interested in teaching Online, or Hybrid classes?
Contact your Chair to see if you are a candidate to teach Online, or Hybrid courses. All online or hybrid instructors will enroll into a four-week online course to be exposed to best practices for teaching online, and to learn how to use the Canvas Learning Management System. The four-week course is 100% online and taught by VCCCD Instructional Technologists/Designers. Please contact the Instructional Design Team with any questions you may have.
