Q: Can I access the internet from my laptop in the library?
A: Yes - there is a wireless network in the building. Pick up a brief sheet of instructions at any service desk.
Q: How do I find something my teacher put on reserve?
A: Go to the Circulation Desk and provide your instructor’s name, the title and edition of the textbook you need, and the name of the course. You may also check the Course Reserves in the library's online catalog.
Q: How do I apply to work as a Library Student Specialist?

Q: Who may borrow items from the library?
A: Any currently enrolled student at Moorpark College, Ventura College, or Oxnard College or faculty or staff member may check out books from the library.
Q: How do I get a library card?
A: Your student ID number serves as your library card. You do not need a physical library card to check out materials at the Moorpark College Library. If you do not know your student ID number, simply access your MyVCCCD account to find it. The number can be found on your class schedule.
Q: How long can I keep the materials I check out?

Q. How many items may I check out?
A: Students are allowed to have a maximum of five items checked out at one time. Faculty members have unlimited checkouts.
Q: Can I renew the materials I have checked out?
A: Materials from our library collection may be renewed by phone or online (as long as no one else has requested the materials). You may renew one time for an additional three weeks.
Q: Can I do research from home?
A: Yes - you can access our online databases, as well as our eBooks, by using our guide on Accessing the Library’s Electronic Resources from Off-Campus.
Q: How do I find books?
A: When you are on campus, use the library’s online catalog. If you are at home, access the catalog from your MyVCCCD account, click on the “Library & Learning Resources” tab, then on “Online Library Catalog.”
Q: How do I find articles?
A: The general databases, InfoTrac Academic OneFile and Ebsco Academic Search Complete, are great places to start. From your MyVCCCD account click on the “Library Learning Resources” tab, then on the green button that says, “eResources Alphabetized List.”
Q: What if the library does not have what I’m looking for?
A: Interlibrary loan services are available to Moorpark College students, faculty and staff. Should the library not have adequate material for a patron's research, the library may borrow materials from other institutions. If you wish to use interlibrary loan, please consult the Reference Librarian.
Q: Where can I go to get help with writing a paper? What if I need someone to proofread my paper?
A: Please visit the Writing Center on the third floor of Library/Learning Resources to schedule an appointment with a writing tutor. The Writing Center has consultants available to work with students one-on-one on writing and study skills.
Q: How much does it cost to print?
A: There is a $0.10 per page charge for printing.
Q: How much does it cost to make copies?
A: Copies cost $0.10 cents per page. Please note that each scan is considered as one page (therefore a double-sided copy will cost $0.20).
Q: Can I pay with a credit or debit card?
A: Yes! Our machines now accept credit and debit cards. The machines currently accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Diners Club and JCB cards.
Q: What if I don't have a credit/debit card?
A: You can purchase a print card on the second floor in the Copier Room for one dollar ($1). In order to purchase your card, insert a dollar plus the cost of your copies (at $0.10 per page). You may add more funds to your card at a later date.
Q: Can I print in color in the library?
A: Yes! We have one color printer on the second floor in the Copier Room. Copies cost $0.49 per page.
Q: Can I print from my own computer?
A: Yes! Print jobs can be sent from any computer, tablet, or phone. Just attach and email your document to: firstname.lastname@example.org. You can attach multiple documents to one email. If you are unable to connect to the wifi, you can save your document to a USB drive and transfer it to any print station using the designated port on the payment device.
