The Second-Year Experience (SYE) program at Moorpark College is designed to support students in their second year of college or higher with identifying, pursuing, and achieving their educational and career goals.
With guidance from counselors and student success coaches, SYE supports the continued growth of our students through activities and resources focused on career exploration, transfer preparation, and leadership development
Eligibility
In order to participate in SYE, you must have completed 24 or more transferrable units. If you do not meet this minimum unit requirement or have any other eligibility questions, please contact us at mcsye@vcccd.edu.
Note: Did you miss out on participating in FYE? No worries! It is not a requirement to have participated in FYE in order to join SYE.
SYE students will receive the following benefits:
Individualized Academic Counseling
- Assistance with developing educational plans, which align to your personal transfer goals and timeline
Student Success Coach
- One-on-one support to connect students with campus resources, assist with applications (college/internship/scholarship), and general encouragement
- Advocate for student learning and engagement in pursuit of goals
- Support with career exploration and preparation through activities, such as resume review, cover letter development, and mock interviews
Workshops and Events developed specifically for SYE students
- Fall SYE & Transfer Planning Workshop
- Monthly Workshops covering Career Exploration, Transfer Preparation, Leadership Development, & Financial Literacy
