Guidelines for Classified Professional Development Funds
Thank you for your interest in applying for Classified Professional Development Funds! Please read these important guidelines prior to submitting your PD funds request.
Criteria
In order to qualify for Classified PD fund consideration, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Applicant must be a permanent (full or part-time) MC Classified Employee who has passed their probationary period.
- Funding request must align with at least one of the MC, VCCCD, or CCC PD goals (more information on this provided within application)
- Applicant must obtain supervisor approval prior to award disbursement.
- Applicant must agree to contribute to an accountability debrief document upon the conclusion of the PD activity.
- Applicant must enter necessary report in Chrome River upon approval by the CS PD ad-hoc committee.
Other Stipulations
- Applications will be reviewed in the order received and approved for as long as we have funding left. We highly recommend that you submit your application as soon as you know about an opportunity to ensure a higher chance that funds are still available.
- For FY 26, awards will range from $500- $1250, depending on the nature of the request. Award caps may change from year to year as the budget may change. If your request exceeds the current cap, please submit anyway as we may be able to accommodate pending funding availability.
- Per district policy, max per diem (meal allowance) is $70 per day. Please factor this cost into your cost estimate, subtracting meals that will already be covered by your conference.

Application Review & Selection Process
- Review Process: Employee submits application → application is forwarded to supervisor to confirm approval → application is forwarded to ad-hoc approval committee to review → applicant notified of decision and sent Chrome River instructions + debrief document (if applicable).
- Selection Process: The selection committee is composed of entirely Classified Professional volunteers. We estimate that turnaround time between submission and decision will take 2-3 weeks. We highly recommend that you apply early to allow for this processing time.
