What do I Bring to My First CalWORKs Counseling Appointment?
Your first counseling appointment is 1 hour. Please plan accordingly including parking (daily parking permits cost $2.00 each and can be purchased at the parking permit dispensers in the parking lots.)
It is required that you bring a copy of your Welfare-To-Work Plan and Notice of Action (typically mailed to you from the county) in order to keep this appointment.
During this appointment, an individual training plan (I.T.P.) will be completed to include weekly class hours and study time.
I.T.P, current class schedule, and book voucher requests will be submitted to your assigned county worker (How to print a book list).
Once all documents are gathered, you will need to:
- Complete an admissions college application (Computers are available at the CalWORKs office)
- Do a college orientation
- Complete the English and Math Assessment
- Schedule a College CalWORKs counseling appointment by going to the college CalWORKs office in SSA 107A or calling (805) 553-4055
Note: When you schedule an appointment, it is your responsibility to write your appointment's day and time in your planner or cell phone's calendar as you may not receive a reminder call.
Important: You must bring a copy of your current Welfare To Work (WTW) activity plan verification of benefits (cash aid) to your counseling appointment.
