Our dedicated CalWORKs staff at Moorpark College is here to support our student parents in achieving their academic and career goals.  

Marnie Melendez

Dean of Student Learning

Marnie's career in higher education began in 2002 as the re-entry counselor at Oxnard College. Since that time she has worked in multiple departments at two different colleges in a variety of positions such as a CTE Grant Coordinator, CTE Counselor, Career Development instructor and Counseling Department Chair. She currently is Dean of Student Learning for Moorpark College. In this capacity, she works with a wide range of students who come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. As well as students who are economically and academically disadvantage, first-generation, foster youth, AB540, LGBTQ, students with disability and returning students. Marnie is passionate about student success and providing access to a first-class education for students by cultivating an inclusive college environment. She strives to ensure that all students receive an equitable educational experience with the tools needed thrive in college. Ms. Melendez holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from California State University, Northridge and a Master of Science in Counseling and Guidance Specializing in College Student Personnel from California Lutheran University. She is currently completing her doctorate in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Community College from Fielding Graduate University.

Angelica Rodriguez

EOPS/CalWORKs/NextUp/CARE Coordinator

Angelica "Angie" Rodriguez has been a counselor at Moorpark College since 2012, and in 2025, she became the EOPS/CalWORKs/NextUp/CARE Coordinator. Angie has worked with students from three programs EOPS, CARE, NextUp, and CalWORKs. Angie is a first-generation college student and a former EOPS student. She transferred from Ventura College to the University of California, Santa Barbara, and received a Bachelor’s in History. She also received a Master of Science in Counseling from California Lutheran University. Angie enjoys working with all students, and her message to students is “Challenges don't make us weak; instead, they expose our inner strength."
