Each year, the Associated Students of Moorpark College (ASMC) Board of Directors offers scholarships to students to recognize their academic accomplishments and contributions to their communities while easing the financial burden placed on many by the cost of a higher education.

The Associated Students of Moorpark College (ASMC) Board of Directors is offering its Grieving the Loss of a Loved One Scholarship to Moorpark College students who were affected by the loss of a loved one during the 2021-2022 or 2022-2023 school year. Those that are involved in community service and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 are encouraged to apply.
A total of five (5) students will be awarded $1,000 each for the
Grieving the Loss of a Loved One Scholarship.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Moorpark College (MC) students are encouraged to apply for the Grieving the Loss of a Loved One Scholarship if they:
- Are a full-time student with a minimum of 12+ units per last two semesters, and are currently enrolled in a minimum of 12 units at MC for Spring 2023
- Have earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher at MC; and
- Lost a loved one during the 2021-2022 or 2022-2023 school year.
REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS:
Interested students are also asked to include the following three (3) required documents (failure to include any of the following documents will result in automatic disqualification from consideration):
(1) Short-answer essays to the following two prompts (each prompt response must be 450 words or fewer):
A. Describe your experience grieving the loss of a loved one. How did this loss affect you (financially, emotionally, academically, and/or personally)?
B. How would receiving this scholarship contribute to your academic success?
(2) A copy of your current, unofficial transcript. Unofficial transcripts are available to students with ID through the Moorpark College Admissions & Records Office, which is located on the 1st floor of Fountain Hall. Course information downloaded from DegreeWorks will not be accepted.

Those that are working 15hrs plus and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 are encouraged to apply.
A total of five (5) students will be awarded $1,000 each for the
Full-Time Enrolled Working Student Scholarship.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Moorpark College (MC) students are encouraged to apply for the Full-Time Enrolled Working Student Scholarship if they
- Must be a full-time student with a minimum of 12+ units per last two semesters, and are currently enrolled in a minimum of 12 units at MC for Spring 2023
- Have earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at MC; and are currently working 15hrs plus.
REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS:

3. What are the reasons that you continue working and going to school full-time?
2) A copy of your resume. Your resume should be no more than two pages in length, and it should include any participation in leadership opportunities, achievements or special distinctions, and professional or volunteer experience you have accumulated while attending Moorpark College.

Those that are involved in 2 or more extracurricular activities at Moorpark College and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 are encouraged to apply.

Student Involvement Scholarship.

Can I apply for more than one ASMC Scholarship?
Yes, students may apply for each ASMC Scholarship for which they are eligible.

What are the next steps after I have submitted my ASMC Scholarship materials to the MC Scholarship Office?
An Associated Students of Moorpark College (ASMC) ad hoc Scholarship Selection Committee, comprised of students and possibly other campus community members, will conduct a blind review and evaluation of the scholarship applications and as a group identify the top applicants to receive the scholarship based on the application criteria and applicants' materials submitted.
When will I know if I have been selected for an ASMC Scholarship?
Students will be notified near the end of the spring semester if they were selected for this opportunity.
