Cal-GETC (California General Education Transfer Curriculum) This is the new General Education Pattern for students who began attending a California Community College (CCC) Fall 2025 or later, or those who have not maintained catalog rights and are not eligible to use IGETC or CSUGE Breadth. Students should meet with an academic counselor for additional details. Cal-GETC will fulfill general education (GE) requirements for the California State University (CSU) or University of California (UC) system and some California private campuses.
IGETC (Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum) is for students who started at a CCC prior to Fall 2025 and has maintained continuous attendance. This pattern is appropriate for students who intend to transfer to the UC or CSU system.
CSU GE Breadth is for students who started at a CCC prior to Fall 2025 and is appropriate for students who intend to transfer to a CSU (including Cal Poly’s).
The Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T/AS-T) is intended for students who plan to complete a bachelor’s degree in a similar major at a CSU campus. Students completing the AA-T or AS-T are given priority consideration for admission to the CSU system, but not to a particular campus or major. With this degree, students may be given a GPA bump when applying to an impacted campus outside the local area or an impacted major that is deemed similar. Once admitted in a deemed similar degree program, students have the opportunity to complete a bachelor's degree within 60 semester units or 90 quarter units at the university.
In order to earn an AA-T/AS-T degree, students must complete:
- Completion of 60 semester units that are eligible for transfer to the California State University system.
- The Cal-GETC pattern (effective fall 2025) or Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or the California State University General Education - Breadth Requirements - if eligible through catalog rights with continuous college attendance maintained.
- A minimum of 18 semester units in a major or area of emphasis, as determined by the community college district.
- A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0.
- A grade of “C” or better in all courses required for the major or area of emphasis.
Students who have completed an AA-T/AS-T will have a strong academic foundation in the field and will be prepared for upper division baccalaureate study at the university. The coursework will satisfy most of the lower-division requirements at many institutions within the California State University system. Students transferring to a UC, private, or out-of-state university should meet with an academic counselor when planning to complete the degree since transfer requirements may be slightly different than those required for the AA-T/AS-T degree.
To review the AA-T or AS-T options that are deemed similar at the CSU, please review the following website: CSU Associate Degree for Transfer Major & Campus Search.
Students enrolling in a California community college this fall could be eligible for a dual admission program to the California State University.
The Transfer Success Pathway (TSP) program is designed to increase access to any of the CSU’s 23 universities. If academic, financial or personal hardships prevented you from attending the CSU in the past, this program could help you earn your degree at the CSU.
To be eligible for the TSP program, you must meet the following criteria:
- First-time freshman who either:
- Wasn’t eligible to attend the CSU at the time you graduated from high school; Or

- Graduated high school in 2025 or prior, and did not receive any college credit after high school graduation
Eligible students can apply to the program to:
- Enter into an agreement with the CSU and receive guaranteed admission to the degree program and campus of your choice. Please note:
- You must meet all TSP requirements within three years.
- Available degree programs vary by each CSU.
- Receive personalized guidance from CSU representatives to create an educational plan that will help you transfer in three years or less.
- Map out your coursework using the CSU Transfer Planner portal to ensure you’re on track to earning your degree.

The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is an agreement among WICHE’s 16 members, through which 160+ participating public colleges and universities provide steep nonresident tuition savings for Western students. Click here for the full list of participating WUE schools!
Through WUE, eligible students can choose from hundreds of undergraduate programs outside their home state, and pay no more than 150 percent of that institution’s resident tuition rate.
Since full nonresident college-tuition rates may exceed 300 percent of resident rates, WUE increases affordable higher-education choices for students, and minimizes the adverse impacts of student loan debt.

Successful completion of an articulated course assures the student and faculty that the student has taken the appropriate course, received the necessary instruction and preparation, and that similar learning outcomes can be assured. This allows for progression to the next level of instruction at the receiving institution.
Moorpark College’s articulation agreements with the California State University, University of California, and some California private campuses can be found on the Articulation System Stimulating Inter-Institutional Transfer (ASSIST) website.
ASSIST is an online information system that shows how course credits earned at a California Community College can be applied when transferring to a four-year California university. It is the official repository of articulation for California’s public colleges and universities.
How do I use ASSIST for transfer planning?
ASSIST displays how course credits can be earned and transferred from the California Community Colleges to the University of California (UC), California State University (CSU) systems, and some California private campuses.

College GPA Calculations
How do I calculate my College GPA?
To calculate your GPA, follow these steps:
- For each course, assign point values to your grades:
- A = 4.0
- B = 3.0
- C = 2.0
- D = 1.0
- F = 0.0
- Sum up all the points you received for each course.
- Divide the total points by the number of courses to get your GPA.
How do I calculate my semester or cumulative GPA?
For both semester GPA and cumulative GPA, follow the same calculation method:
- List all courses and their grades.
- Convert each grade to the corresponding points (A=4.0, B=3.0, etc.).
- Sum all the points.
- Divide by the total number of courses. The difference between semester GPA and cumulative GPA is that cumulative GPA includes all courses taken throughout your academic career, while semester GPA is for a specific term.
